What is the Jacob Street School?
The Jacob Street School of Storytelling was founded to promote the art of storytelling – the performance of oral narrative in front of live audiences. We offer workshops, seminars, direction, and coaching to explore the many facets of this seed art.

From Bill Harley, Director The workshop we’re offering is the first step in a dream I’ve had for many years – founding a school that teaches the art of storytelling. And by storytelling, I mean the speaking of a narrative into the air in a space filled with people. I view storytelling as a seed art – one that is the basis for many other kinds of expression. To be a master of this art requires a big skill set – good memory, emotional intelligence, an understanding of narrative structure, a facility with language, and skill in the use of the voice and body. It also requires dedication and practice. My co-leaders in this workshop, Wendy Overly and Clare Murphy, are two very talented and accomplished artists. They are great performers and teachers and have a deep understanding and love of the spoken word. With our complementary skills, I couldn’t be happier about their participation. It will be a wonderful couple of days. If you have questions, please contact me at [email protected] Yours, |
